what the contract for america was i guess the right will matter or something because some people knew what it was and it didn't matter too well when they were looking for the majority did go on but it but it mattered in so far as it was something that you could hold your politicians accountable to sort of like a checklist of all the things that they were only going to do it if it's just a pledge not a promise and not a contract well i mean people take that for example the tax pledge with the americans for tax reform all the time and they pledge that they are not going to vote for anything that raises taxes and they wind up losing a great deal of votes as a consequence of violating that pledge so pledge matters it does it does have an impact we've seen ok. but the other important thing is that this does give us a checklist of the things that they do and do not accomplish now i'm not i'm not optimistic i don't think it's going to be able to accomplish anywhere near the number of things that they claim that they're going to be able to do and the reason that they're putting this list out
